Carol Hildebrand

This is a character design for Lyra Belacqua, from the book series His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman.

Lyra is described as having light hair and pale eyes, but other than this her appearance is left for the reader's imagination.

​

Since she is an active child, I went with a wavy medium hairstyle that can get messy and show how she spends the whole day playing and does not care so much about taking baths and staying neat.

​

One of the most important aspects of this character is how well she lies, so I wanted to give her expressive eyes and ended up with a tilted-downwards design for them.
